Temple at Tikal (Guatemala)
The city of Tikal in the Guatemalan rain forest grew from around 2000BC. Inscriptions at the ruins refer to the city as Yax Mutal or Yax Mutul, meaning "First Mutal". Mutual refers to a hair-bundle glyph, the meaning of which remains unknown.
